About Us

History

Eastern Silk Exotic Textiles started out some 20 years ago as a Silk Wholesaler importing fine silks for Australia’s Bridal Industry and ornate saris for the Indian community.

A demand for beautiful fabrics for home decorating soon saw Eastern Silk developing its range to meet that demand. In 1996 Eastern Silk launched its first range of homewares combing the vivid colours of India to produce vibrant cushions, curtains and quilt covers. The range grew with the demand and soon Eastern Silk was spreading to retail outlets Australia wide.

In 2001 Eastern Silk’s range had grown to include fashion accessories as well as homewares and the local demand meant it was time to open the doors to retail in Adelaide, South Australia. From modest beginnings in one room at their Mile End Office, Adelaide embraced Eastern Silk and its products. By the end of 2002 the touch of India in Mile End, South Australia had grown to fill the entire location. In mid 2004 Eastern Silk re-located to larger premises 3 doors north at 7 James Congdon Drive allowing room for more exotic textile products and a fabric showroom filled with endless rolls of fine silks for bridal, evening and home decorating.

Now Eastern Silk allows you to visit whenever you please from the comfort of your own computer. Please enjoy!
